Hatha Yoga for Beginners: Where to Start

Hatha is often the best starting point for yoga beginners — and there is a good reason for that. The practice is built on balancing effort with ease, breath with movement, and it is a slower, well-sequenced style that teaches the foundations of asana without rushing.
What a beginner Hatha class looks like
At India Yoga Studio, a Hatha class begins with gentle warm-ups and breath awareness, moves through standing and seated postures, and closes with relaxation. Every posture is explained clearly, and you are never left to guess. Because our classes are taught by Yogacharya Jaiprakash personally, you receive the same consistent guidance in every session — whether you join in Bruchköbel-Roßdorf, Erlensee or online.
Do I need to be flexible?
No. Flexibility is a result of practice, not a requirement for it. Most beginners start with noticeably stiff bodies and progress quickly when they practise regularly. The free trial class is the perfect way to find out if Hatha suits you — there is no obligation afterwards.
Props make it easier
We use belts, blocks, chairs and the wall to support beginners, so every posture can be adapted to your level. You do not need to buy anything: all props are provided at the studio.
